Westmead Hotel

Redditch Rd, Hopwood, Alvechurch, Birmingham B48 7AL, UK – 0121 445 1202

Had a one night stay on Friday 3rd August. As soon as you walk into the hotel the quality is abundant. Reception staff are lovely, knowledgeable and helpful. If you reserve a table in the restaurant it is the same menu as the bar, but quieter. (Mine wasn’t as there was a large family party of 10, but it was lovely). Food is spot on in the restaurant and not expensive. Breakfast is “choose and pay from menu” so those who like an eat-all-you-like buffet, this probably isn’t for you... After my big evening meal the night before, I only wanted toast and coffee, so it was fine for me. Rooms are as clean as whistles, beds clean and comfortable and shower is ok but not very powerful. My only gripe (and it’s a small one) was the very old and very low speed hairdryer. I gave up after 2 minutes... Would give this top marks and will definitely stay again!!

Attended a work training session here. Room was nice, clean and comfy. It was a quiet evening and sat in the bar area for dinner. Staff were great and food was good. Conference room was fit for what we required. Lunch was arranged for us and again was very nice. The whole group sat together for the evening meal and was very enjoyable. Again staff were all very nice and helpful.

Made to feel so welcome! The breakfast was perfect, I would visit again just for the breakfast. Thank you!

Absolutely amazing and stunning property located roughly 30 minutes walk from Barnt Green station Both Amanda and John are amazing hosts. Very accommodating and loved seeing their 2 beautiful cats. The breakfast we had was delicious and filling. This is available from 07:15 - 09:00. My wife had a selection from the hot menu - bacon, scrambled eggs, John's famous hash browns and baked beans. I had bacon, mushrooms, 2 fried eggs and beans as well as the famous hash browns. We both also had some of the fresh bread which we had the delight of slicing ourselves along with fresh butter. We had an assortment of jams, preserves and spreads available. There was also a selection of cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt. We asked for 2 lots of coffee and were surprised when John came out with a large cafetiere, the coffee hit the spot just nicely at that time of the morning. The room we had with the amazing views was located at the rear of the property on the first floor. You can see the 2 ponds and the acres of land they have from the windows. The first night we stayed I made use of the bath they have in the en suite. I have to say, that has been the best bath I have been able to have in years! (I am disabled and the bath we have at home is a water saving bath which is very shallow. I am also 6" tall!) So being able to fully submerge myself was an absolute God send, as I have health problems that effect most, if not all of my body. Both hosts have gone above and beyond what a "normal" Bed and Breakfast owner usually does, which in turn has made our stay here that much more enjoyable and special. This stay was because it was myself and my wife's 10th wedding anniversary. They're both extremely knowledgeable about the local area and are happy to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to coming again and wish all the best to both Amanda and John for such a brilliant weekend away.

The Victoria Inn

113 Hewell Rd, Barnt Green, Birmingham B45 8NW, UK – 0121 445 3204

Great little hidden gem in the countryside with a lovely little beer garden. Popped in for a drink with friends and was greeted with a smile. Friendly staff and great food. Service was quick and our server Kiran, couldn’t do more for us. Would thoroughly recommend!

Came her with my husband this evening for dinner. Both staters and mains were absolutely delicious. Too stuffed to try the desserts but will definitely be back as we saw some on a table next to us and they looked amazing! Amy and Hannah were our waitresses and couldn’t do enough for us. A well deserved 5 stars

The Barnt Green Inn

Kendal End Rd, Birmingham B45 8PZ, UK – 0121 445 4949

Friendly, well presented staff. The meal I had unfortunately wasn't quite up to scratch as the vegetables were under cooked which made up a high proportion of the dish. The chef agreed to take the drinks off the bill as a good will gesture. I would definitely like to return to sample another dish. The architecture and grounds were splendid. The internal decor has an upmarket feel to it, even classy. The meals seemed a little on the more expensive side but on the whole in keeping with a fantastic day out. Thank you

Myself and my wife dined here on Wednesday night. If I could rate this place 6 stars I would. My wife had the Red Snapper special and I had the fillet steak special. Huge compliments to the chef our meals were cooked to perfection and the horseradish dressed salad with my steak was to die for. We were served by the manager (Luke). This guy knows his stuff, he recommended both these dishes and a beautiful bottle of white. My wife really struggles with eating out due to her disability and Luke went the extra mile to make her feel comfortable. Even helping me take her out to the car. Thank you Luke and the Barnt Green Inn staff we will see you again soon.

The Red Lion

Red Lion St, Birmingham, Alvechurch, Birmingham B48 7LG, UK – 0121 445 4162

Bar staff young, unfamiliar and contrary. That said..how else would we like the young. Eat there on Saturday and the fish was good. I Enjoyed my meal. It's a pub that serves food in a familiar and pleasant environment. That said, if they put they're prices up any more I'd reconsider my options.

Nice friendly and busy pub with great staff. Food is standard pub grub but nothing wrong with that. Recommended

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!
